Featured App: Alberobello TuttoInComune

Alberobello TuttoInComune app icon

Alberobello TuttoInComune is the parking and permits app of the Comune di Alberobello, the town in Puglia famous around the world for its trulli. Promoted by the town administration and run with the Polizia Municipale, it lets residents, workers and visitors buy blue zone parking subscriptions, request the Pass Rosa for expectant mothers and young families, and apply for resident and ZTL passes, all from their phones, with secure payment by PayPal or card. It is built with AppPresser.

In this featured app spotlight, we take a closer look at the town behind the app, what the app does, who it serves, and why it is such a strong example of what happens when a WordPress site and a mobile app work together.

Who Is Behind the Comune di Alberobello

Alberobello is a town in the province of Bari, in the southern Italian region of Puglia, known for the trulli, limestone dwellings with conical stone roofs built without mortar. UNESCO describes them as remarkable examples of corbelled dry stone construction, “a prehistoric building technique still in use in this region.” The Trulli of Alberobello were inscribed on the World Heritage List in 1996.

The town’s story is tied to its stone. Scattered rural settlements existed in the area around the year 1000 and slowly grew into the villages of Aia Piccola and Monti. In the mid fourteenth century the area was granted to the first Count of Conversano, and in 1620 the settlement began to expand when Count Gian Girolamo Guercio ordered the construction of a bakery, a mill and an inn. By the end of the eighteenth century the community numbered more than 3,500 people. In 1797 feudal rule came to an end, the name Alberobello was adopted, and Ferdinand IV, the Bourbon King of Naples, made it a royal town.

Today more than 1,600 trulli survive in the protected area, about 1,030 in the Rione Monti and about 590 in the Rione Aia Piccola, along with landmarks such as the two storey Trullo Sovrano, the Casa d’Amore and the Piazza del Mercato. Many are still lived in, and the town works to balance conservation with the needs of residents and the many visitors who arrive each year from all over the world. The municipality manages the protected historic center through its own Ufficio Centro Storico.

With so many visitors on narrow historic streets, parking and limited traffic zones matter a great deal in Alberobello. The town launched TuttoInComune in 2024 as a new digital service “to make communication between citizens and the town easier,” and to simplify parking and access to its ZTL zones. The app was developed by Visionage srl, an Italian web and mobile development company, and its service site is online at tuttoincomune.it/alberobello.

What the Alberobello TuttoInComune App Does

The Alberobello TuttoInComune app opens on a clean screen marked Comune di Alberobello, Polizia Municipale, with two large car shaped buttons, a blue one for Abbonamenti (subscriptions) and a pink one for the Pass Rosa. A blue outline of a trullo rises from the bottom of the screen alongside the TuttoInComune logo.

Through the app and its service site, people can:

  • Buy a blue zone parking subscription, monthly or quarterly, open to visitors, workers and residents. Buying through the app replaces the parking meters.
  • Request the Pass Rosa, for pregnant women or parents of children up to two years old, to park in the town’s pink spaces. It is available to residents of Alberobello.
  • Request a yellow zone pass, for residents of areas with yellow line parking.
  • Request a ZTL access pass, for residents and businesses that need to enter limited traffic zones.
  • Pay securely in the app with PayPal or a debit or credit card.
  • Reach the town’s website, the privacy policy and credits and support from the menu.

What makes Alberobello TuttoInComune distinctive is how practical it is. In a town where tourism and daily life share the same historic streets, a simple app that lets people park legally and request permits without visiting an office or hunting for a meter makes life easier for everyone.
