Featured App: CCAniene
CCAniene is the official app of the Circolo Canottieri Aniene in Rome, reserved for members. Members sign in with the same personal credentials they use for the reserved area of the club’s website, then find news, documents, club information and instant push notifications about the club’s reserved events, all “a portata di tap,” just a tap away. It is built with AppPresser.
In this featured app spotlight, we take a closer look at the team behind CCAniene, what the app does, who it serves, and why it is such a strong example of what happens when a WordPress site and a mobile app work together.
Who Is Behind Circolo Canottieri Aniene
The Circolo Canottieri Aniene is one of Rome’s historic sporting clubs. It was founded in 1892 by Alessandro Morani and the Fasoli brothers, and the club describes its history as testimony to “the inseparable and fascinating bond between the city of Rome and its river.” Its first famous crew, a four oared boat named “Rugantino,” won the club’s first prestigious honors and quickly raised its standing in Rome and across Italy.
The club quickly grew beyond rowing. Its athletes have competed for Italy at the Olympic Games since the first medals came in 1932, when an Aniene crew won bronze in the coxless four in Los Angeles, followed by Romolo Catasta’s bronze in London in 1948. Over the decades, swimmers, rowers, canoeists and athletes from other sports wearing the club’s colors have won Olympic, world and European titles, making the Aniene one of the most successful sporting clubs in Italy.
The club’s leadership has also been closely tied to Italian sport. Giovanni Malagò served as its president from 1997 to 2017 before becoming its honorary president, and in 2013 he was elected president of CONI, the Italian National Olympic Committee. He was succeeded at the club by Massimo Fabbricini.
Today the club sits on the Lungotevere dell’Acqua Acetosa along the Tiber. Its clubhouse, known as the casina, houses rooms reserved for members, including a reading room, a television room and a billiards room, along with reception rooms where guests are welcome. A restaurant and bar serve members and their guests every day, and a pro shop sells sportswear made especially for the club. The club’s official anthem, “Dopo le Olimpiadi, Vittoriosi,” was composed by one of its members, the Maestro Ennio Morricone.
Alongside the members’ club, Aquaniene is a sports club open to the public, created for people who love sport and share the values of the Circolo. The club’s members also compete in friendly inter club events in Rome, such as Circoliamo. The Circolo Canottieri Aniene is online at ccaniene.com.
What the CCAniene App Does
The CCAniene app brings the members’ reserved area to their phones. A navy and gold design reflects the club’s colors and crest, and a bottom bar keeps News and the Area riservata soci (members’ reserved area) one tap away.
Here are the main areas the app covers:
- Secure login, using the same credentials as the website’s reserved area.
- News from the club.
- Documents for members.
- The members’ reserved area.
- Il circolo, with information about the clubhouse, restaurant, bar and pro shop.
- Cariche sociali, the club’s officers.
- Partners, Aquaniene and Impianti (facilities).
- Magazine, the club’s publication.
- Instant push notifications about the club’s reserved events.
What makes CCAniene distinctive is how it pairs a club with more than a century of tradition with a modern, private digital space. Members get the information they need without it ever leaving the club.

Key Features That Stand Out

The login screen shows the club’s crest above fields for username and password, with a large Accedi (Sign in) button. A link helps members who have forgotten their password. Once signed in, everything in the app is just a tap away.

Home
The Il circolo screen introduces La sede sociale, the clubhouse, with a photo of the club’s pool. It explains the members’ reading, television and billiards rooms, the reception rooms open to guests, and the restaurant and bar. A bottom bar keeps News and the members’ reserved area close at hand.

Menu
The menu lists News, Documenti, Area riservata soci, Il circolo, Cariche sociali, Partner, Aquaniene, Impianti and Magazine. Each item has a clean icon on navy blue, with the club’s crest at the top. Members can reach any section in a single tap.

Who CCAniene Serves
CCAniene is built for the members of the Circolo Canottieri Aniene. It gives them secure, private access to club news, documents and events wherever they are.
It also serves the club’s staff and officers, who can reach members instantly with push notifications about reserved events.
Finally, it serves the club’s tradition. A modern app helps keep a historic Roman institution connected with its members for years to come.
Technology Behind the App
CCAniene is powered by the club’s own WordPress site, ccaniene.com.
The app is built from WordPress, and WordPress drives it. Club news and the members area live on the WordPress site, and AppPresser carries that content straight into the app, so updates made on the site show up in the app without a separate system to manage.
Looking at the site itself, these are the platforms behind the experience:
WordPress, the foundation for the club’s website. WordPress is the open source content management system that powers more websites than any other platform.
Paid Memberships Pro, for the members area. Paid Memberships Pro is a WordPress membership plugin.
Elementor and Elementor Pro, for page building. Elementor is a drag and drop page builder for WordPress.
Slider Revolution, for sliders. Slider Revolution is a WordPress plugin for animated sliders.
TranslatePress, for languages. TranslatePress is a WordPress translation plugin.
Contact Form 7, for forms. Contact Form 7 is a widely used free WordPress form plugin.
AppPresser, which turns the WordPress site into the mobile app. AppPresser is a mobile app builder that creates native iOS and Android apps from a WordPress site.
AppCamera, an AppPresser extension for photo uploads.
What CCAniene Shows About AppPresser
The Circolo Canottieri Aniene runs its website on WordPress with a members’ reserved area, and the app shows how AppPresser can bring that private area to mobile. The same logins and content work in both places.
It also shows how a private club can use push notifications. Instant alerts about reserved events keep members informed without public announcements.
And it shows how AppPresser serves organizations of every kind and size, around the world. A historic sporting club in Rome can offer its members a polished app of its own.
Congratulations to the Circolo Canottieri Aniene on building an app that keeps its members connected to the club. We are proud to have AppPresser behind it.
