Push Notifications are now available

Picture this: you made an AppPresser app for your restaurant, and your customer Bob has it.

It’s Friday night and you’re having a special, so you send out an email to your customers. Bob doesn’t get it because he’s not at his computer, it’s Friday night and he is out on the town.

He just happens to be looking for a place to eat near your restaurant when he gets a message on his phone. “Half off appetizers for the next hour!” Bob decides to eat at your place because of the push notification through your app.

Push notifications for AppPresser are here, and you are going to love them!

What are push notifications used for?

AppPresser Push Notifications

Push notifications are kind of like text messages that you send to anyone with your app.

If you have a retail store, you can send a message about a sale. If you have an event, send a message about registration.

How do they work?

Push notifications with AppPresser can be sent a couple different ways.

pushwoosh-sendpush

1. You can send them manually or schedule them by entering your message in a simple interface on PushWoosh. This requires a free account at PushWoosh, there are no extra charges for sending notifications this way.

WordPress Push Notifications

2. Send pushes through WordPress when you publish a new post or page! Any time you choose, send a push notification to your app straight from a WordPress post or page. *This requires a paid account with PushWoosh.

Why PushWoosh? Can I use my own server?

Using PushWoosh is a much simpler way for you to send push notifications than using your own server.

iOS Push Notifications require an intermediary server (such as PushWoosh) to send the notification to Apple’s servers, which then send the notification to your customer’s devices through the app. The intermediary server is required to have a security certificate installed from Apple.

Because of the varying hosting environments, this is not always supported. You may also incur extra charges from your hosting company if you send a lot of pushes.

Using PushWoosh saves you the trouble of setting up your own push server, plus you can start free!

How do I setup Push Notifications?

Your iOS app needs special certificates for push notifications, and your Phonegap project also may need a small modification. If you already have an app built, you will need to rebuild it.

There are a few steps to configuring your app for push notifications, but we have great tutorials to help.
