Add push notifications to your BuddyPress mobile app
New updates to AppBuddy allow push notifications when someone mentions you, messages you, or sends you a friend request.
The fully featured BuddyPress notification system is similar to Facebook or Twitter, and now with push notifications it can be used in your mobile app.
You can test this feature by downloading the PressChat mobile app, or purchase AppBuddy and make your own social networking app with WordPress.
Existing customers can simply auto-update AppBuddy and AppPush to begin using this great new feature.

Unfortunately the wparmchair app doesn’t work!
Hey Will, this app has not been updated in a while, we will be fixing it up shortly.
Glad to hear Scott. I’m interested in building something similar and I had downloaded the app when it first came out and actually found this article when I was thinking about push notifications and integration with Buddypress. However when I went to check the app realized it didn’t work which made me a little nervous that maybe it wasn’t working!
How can i make this work? do i need to have the pushwoosh api running on my wp? i mean, i dont see other way to send local push. thnx in advance.
Hi Tane, push notifications are already integrated with our AppBuddy and AppPush plugins. Setup instructions for Pushwoosh can be found in our documentation: http://apppresser.com/docs/extensions/apppush/
Hi Scott,
I had the same question then Tane… I read the documentation. But not quite sure I understand good… So I need a API from pushwoosh it mean the first paid plan at least, I’m I right? If so, is there anyway to make it around this?
Thanx
Hi Jacob, yes a paid plan with Pushwoosh is required to access their API. The only alternative is setting up your own push notifications server, but believe me, you don’t want to do that 😉
Ho Scott,
Thanks for the reply, do Reactor could be a altern way?
I know own path, it’s a pain in the neck.
Thanks!
Reactor has it’s own push notifications server, but it doesn’t support BuddyPress.
Hello,
Pushwoosh is ridiculously expensive. Why not use the Amazon Simple Notification Service (Amazon SNS)?
See https://aws.amazon.com/sns/
Cheers,
Wes
Hi Wes, setting up Amazon SNS is not something the average person can do easily, it is quite complex. Pushwoosh is easy to setup, which is why we went with them. We are looking into other options for the future though.
Hi,
we have been using apppresser, app buddy & buddypress the register notification/welcome email is not working only in app. But from browser view its working fine.
